Communion is receiving the broken body and shed blood of Christ through the sacramental elements of bread and the fruit of the vine. It is a celebration that expresses the believer's sharing of the Divine Nature of our Lord Jesus Christ (II Peter 1:4) through our turning away from our sin (repentence) (Acts 3:19), believing that our sinful nature was crucified with Christ (Gal. 2:20), and trusting that Christ's death was payment for our sin (Rom 6:23). In Communion, we remember His suffering and death (I Corinthians 11:26) and the prophecy of His Second Coming! As believers, we take Communion out of obedience to Christ's command to do so, and in doing so we look forward to His return until He comes! At River of Life Fellowship, we practice Open Communion and request only that you be a born-again believer before partaking of Communion with us.
A Prayer you can say as you take Communion:
"Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my thoughts;
And see if there be any wicked way in me,
And lead me, in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23-24
